President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday departed Nigeria for the United Kingdom to attend the UK-African Investment Summit. Buhari was accompanied by the Governors of Gombe, Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yayaha and Abia State Governor, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu.
2. Another Building Collapses In Lagos
Another building on Friday collapsed in Agarawu area of Lagos Island, Lagos State. It was gathered that the building, which is a two-story building, collapsed due to structural instability.
3. Next Level: Nigerians May Soon Buy Fuel At N97 Per Litre – Buhari’s Minister
The Minister of State for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva has disclosed the federal government is working on a cheaper fuel alternative for Nigerians. He said with the alternative, Nigerians may be able to get fuel at the cheap rate of N97 per litre as against the current N145 per litre.
4. Why Buhari Met With Security Chiefs In Aso Rock
In a boost to the fight against Boko Haram and banditry, the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has received two fighter helicopters. This was made known by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar while speaking to State House correspondents after a security meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Former Senator and rights activist, Shehu Sani, has dragged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to court over his continued detention. The suit filed by Shehu Sani’s counsel, Abdul Ibrahim (SAN), before Justice A. B. Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Gudu, Abuja, indicates that the hearing would commence on Monday 20th January 2020.

Reports reaching Naija News this time affirms that Abuja Federal High Court has dismissed the lawmaker representing Anambra South district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Ifeanyi Ubah. It could be recalled that Prof Meshach Umenweke, the returning officer for Anambra South senatorial election, in February general election has declared the candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Ifeanyi Ubah, as the winner of the poll.
7. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Explodes Over Hope Uzodinma’s Emergence As Imo Governor
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned the emergence of Hope Uzodinma as the Executive Governor of Imo State, saying the former senator is allowed as a governor “we are finished as a people.” Naija News reports that Kanu made this statement during a live broadcast on Radio Biafra on Wednesday, January 15, to mark the “Biafra War 50th Anniversary.”
8. Nnamdi Kanu To Storm Nigeria For Parents’ Burial
Barring any last-minute change, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, will return to Nigeria for the burial ceremony of his parents, Naija News understands. Naija News had reported earlier that Nnamdi Kanu‘s parents, late HRH Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife late Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Okwu-Kanu will be buried on Valentine’s day, Friday, February 14, 2020.

Manchester United captain Ashley Young has left the Red Devils and joined Inter Milan on a six-month deal. Naija News reports that the deal for the former England international includes an option to extend for a further year.
