Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has fixed August 14, 2020, for the reopening of restaurants in Lagos State at 50 per cent capacity. Sanwo-Olu made this known during a COVID-19 briefing on Saturday at the State House in Marina.
3. Container Falls, Kills Two FAAN Staff, Others In Lagos
A 20ft container has fallen off a moving truck at Ilasa, along the Oshodi-Apapa expressway, killing two FAAN staff and others after landing on a commuter bus. A report monitored on Vanguard by Naija News, says eight passengers, among them two staff of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN were killed while others who managed to jump out of the bus sustained varying degrees of injuries.
4. Sanwo-Olu Fixes Date To Reopen Mosques, Churches In Lagos
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says worship centres (Churches and Mosques) in Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city, will reopen effective August 7, 2020, amid Coronavirus in Lagos. Naija News reports that Churches and Mosques had been shut in Lagos since March as part of measures to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has denied plotting to drag ex-governor Olusegun Mimiko to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Speaking through his Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, Akeredolu described social media reports as untrue, puerile and utterly mischievous.
6. 72-Year-Old Man Dies While On Air From Calabar to Abuja
A 72-year-old man travelling to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Saturday, August 1 died aboard an Air Peace flight P47182. Reports revealed that the man had boarded the plane from Calabar, the capital city of Cross River heading to Abuja for a medical check-up before the unforeseen circumstance occurred.
7. COVID-19: 386 New Cases Of Coronavirus Reported In Nigeria
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has reported Three hundred and eighty-six confirmed new cases of Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria. The health agency disclosed the details on its verified account on the microblogging site, Twitter, on 1st of august, 2020.
8. Generator Fume Kills Seven Ladies In Niger
The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the death of seven ladies from generator fumes at Rijau town, in Rijau Local Government Area of the northern state. Naija News reports that the seven ladies were reported to have died inside a beauty salon.

Arsenal Football Club has beaten it rival Chelsea FC to win the English FA Cup. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang inspired Arsenal to a record 14th FA Cup win as the Gunners captain struck twice to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the final at an empty Wembley on Saturday.

Ismaila Mustapha a.k.a Mompha has paid a surprise visit to social media influencer, Adedamola Rukayat Adewale popularly known as Adeherself. Recall that Adeherself, who is a social media influencer, has been in EFCC custody since July 7 for alleged possession of fraudulent documents. She finally regained her freedom on July 24 after meeting her bail condition.
